6 Items to Pack for a Girl's Weekend this Spring

I love my family SO DAMN MUCH and last weekend I headed over to Indianapolis to see one of my cousins for a girl's weekend. The agenda included drinking wine, eating tacos, and catching up. Since I just got back, I thought I'd share with you some of my must-have items to pack for a killer girls-weekend.

Here's my list of essentials to stash in your weekender bag for a perfect spring-time girls weekend:

Denim Jacket

Denim jackets are my go-to in the spring and summer.  I'll throw one on in the morning when it's still a bit chilly, tie it around my waist during the afternoon for some cool-girl vibes, and then drape it over my shoulders in the evening to give it a slightly more elevated look.

Wide-Brimmed Hat

Double-purpose and an instant outfit uplifter, a wide-brim hat is an accessory you should definitely bring.  It will shield your eyes from the sun, keep your head warm from any cool early-spring breeze, and creates a great sleep mask while you're traveling.  My current favorite hat is this one in a burgundy shade for a pop of color.

Pink Lip Stain

Is it really spring if you aren't wearing pink lipstick? For me, putting on pink lips are a sure-fire way to put a spring in my step (pun intended). Lip stains are way easier maintenance, especially if you'll be indulging in a glass or two of wine. Right now I'm loving the color Vibes by Milk. It's super subtle, but gives a nice shade of color for the day.

Two Pairs of Shoes

Unfortunately, shoes tend to be the item I leave behind when packing for the weekend. They're bulky, plus they end up getting squished in those soft weekender bags. For a girls weekend though, I'd definitely recommend finding a way to pack at least one extra pair of shoes.  One for shopping, day-drinking, and general frolicking and another pair for going out to dinner and possibly the bar.  I would recommend opting for a pair of comfy white and blue Pumas for day time and lace-up high heeled sandals for night. Both pairs are versatile and match a lot of the clothes I already have in my closet, but have the power to transform an outfit from day to night, and vice versa.

Sunglasses

Duh. Don't go anywhere without a pair of cool sunglasses to shield your eyes from the sun and shield others from the bags under your eyes from indulging in one too many cocktails the night before.

A Clutch

A clutch is another piece that can really elevate an outfit.  It can make your ensemble look really sleek and pulled together, even if you're more dressed down.  Carrying around a huge purse all weekend can also really slow you down, especially if you're weekend involves a lot of walking.  Since the Spring time calls for pops of color, go for a bright teal, yellow, or pink.
